theres a reason one of my favorites scriptures is ll cor 1:20
‘For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.’
as is deut 31:8
‘And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.’
its because of the blood covenant. that term doesnt mean a lot to our western culture. the most significance it holds for many is that old childhood practice of pricking your finger with a friend, and putting them together to become blood brothers/sisters. funny how children take it more seriously than adults. here in the states anyway. but making a blood covenant isnt just a childrens game. its a very old practice, with a penalty of death for breaking. a blood covenant binds the two parties together for life. it makes them one. everything one owns belongs to the other as well. its not something you enter into casually or impulsively.
but it means a lot to me. it means theres more to this than just me serving God. its not just me giving everything i have and am to a God i barely know, and never hear back from. it means God is covenanted to be there for me too. it means everything He has and is is mine. it means He is there to spend time with me, and be an active participant in the relationship. it means i dont have to wonder what His will is.
and i dont have to worry about breaking the covenant, because Jesus ratified it in His own blood, as the seed of abraham that God promised to make the covenant with.
‘Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.’
thats why easter means something to me. its so more than just atonement and redemption. thats just the beginning. its all the good stuff that comes after too. you think its hard being faithful to Someone who loves me that much?
